Great listener, over ten years of experience as a pro athlete, and 15 years of experience teaching sports and fitness as a sailing coach, martial arts instructor, yoga and pilates teacher. I co-design training plans with my students based on their unique needs, and build in flexibility to adjust them based on how the classes go and the feedback I receive.
Creating routines that are targeted and yield measurable results already in the short term. I love connecting with my students and guiding them to bring out their best through the physical practice we build together.
I loved Silvia’s teaching style from the very first time that I took a special kickboxing/yoga fusion class. Her yoga classes were so great that it motivated myself enough to wake up at 6am every Monday during my vacations only to take her class. I love how passionate she is on helping her students perfect the different asanas with compassion and patience. And Don’t be naive.. her power yoga class means business! It is a full workout. It doesn’t hurt that she has great music and that she adjust your positions when you require it. In other words: she is amazing!!
Me gustó mucho. Fue mi primera clase de yoga, y todo lo contrario a lo que me esperaba. Creía que el yoga era más aburrido pero para nada, pasamos un rato súper divertido. La clase me ha motivado para hacerlo más veces.
I did a class of yoga with Silvia and it was great! She gave me great feedback to improve my style. I really recommend her!
I really enjoyed her class! Silvia gave me a power yoga class on my deck. She was very professional correcting my postures and adapting to my level. I left the class very relaxed.
Listening is key to developing a program that addresses everything a client wants to tackle. Whether for weight loss, increasing flexibility, or building muscle mass, I am a big believer in building a practice around the student, including their experience and what they enjoy doing. If they don't enjoy it, there is less chance they will diligently stick to the plan, which undermines result
I am a former pre-Olympic sailor, and have been a pro-athlete for almost 10 years before retiring in 2015. I have over 10 years of experience teaching fitness, including sailing, martial arts, Yoga and Pilates.
First time special: $75/session
The first session includes a complimentary 30-minute consultation.
Duration varies based on physical fitness level and how the student feels. I go above and beyond to help my clients achieve their goals and feel great about our sessions, so I include extra time for stretching and following up on how the practice feels, and how we should adjust it.
Package pricing depends on commute time/expense. I only work with clients located within 3 miles from East Cambridge.
As a pre-Olympic athlete, my body was under a lot of stress, so I sought out soothing practices such as Yoga and Pilates.
After a couple of months of practicing, I couldn't believe how amazing my body felt, and how much it calmed my mind. All the inbalances were stretched out, and I reinforced muscles that had been neglected, which empowered me to be a better athlete. From there, I made it my mission to bring Yoga and Pilates to the world.
Later, I learned the importance of having a trainer that truly listens in depth to people's concerns, and guides them on how to train effectively, avoiding unhealthy muscle movement patterns, so I decided to become a personal trainer.
The bulk of my experience has been working with busy professionals strapped for time, where creating an efficient workout plan was the top priority.
I've worked with many types of students: athletes, office workers, and elderly students, both male and female.
The day that my 71-year-old client held a plank for a minute and a half! I was so proud of her, because she had been training so hard, and I got to see the results of all the effort we put into building up to that point.
It's really important that you connect with your teacher/trainer as a human. Follow your gut feeling, and don't be afraid to say no to the person who doesn't feel right- a little bit like online dating :)
A good trainer will ask in-depth questions about your training history, injuries, stress levels, nutrition, and work/lifestyle situation. It's impossible to discern physical training from your emotional state. Everything going on in our lives affects the way our training impacts the body.
Have I tried working on the same goal before? (ie weight loss, increasing flexibility) Who did you work with, and for how long?
How motivated to I feel? Am I a disciplined person that can combine sessions with a trainer with home workouts prescribed by a trainer?
