About
Yoga, Relaxation therapies, and Nutrition education. I have been practicing yoga for about 25 years in the meditative aspects and about 13 years in the posturing. In addition to a 200-hour yoga instructor certification from Saint Paul College, I also have extensive study and experience in healthcare practice and administration -- I have a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics and health Psychology from the University of Minnesota and a Master's degree in Health Administration from Louisiana State University at Shreveport.
Besides being able to travel to clients' homes, I also have a relationship with a Minneapolis Wellness Clinic, where beautiful space is available for private yoga sessions. We can provide the space and materials for you to practice with me. You may book personalized and private massage and bodywork sessions with other practitioners, at a discounted price, if you wish. I have been an employee and contractor at this clinic for about 4 years.
I have worked extensively with people who are new to the practice of yoga and also with those who wish to have a very rigorous practice. Clients of mine have had very rapid transitions between beginner and fairly advanced practice, through individualized sessions with me.
Clients and learners have described my teaching as fresh and contemporary, using motivating and energizing music --welcome and different commentary.
I utilize a combination of personally-developed sequences and meditations, along with some professionally developed works, lended from other practitioners. I believe that this helps to develop an awareness and benefit of multiple perspectives, and adds to the holisticness of yoga. I want you to have a bunch of tools at your disposal, all along the way, during your advancement toward your goals.
Full-time, I work at a long term psychiatric nursing facility as a Clinical Nutrition Manager. I absolutely enjoy working with my residents and watching their lives be impacted.
I also enjoy teaching, because it gives me the opportunity to learn from others' joys and accomplishments -- beyond the session, I know that my students and I will both learn much from our own mistakes and each other's, beyond our successes.
It is hard for a yoga instructor to say they don't like their job, because the physiological response of the body is so beneficial for our moods and health -- I can't disagree with that. Yoga is a beautiful thing.
