Yoga As Therapy
About
I am a yoga therapy intern working with anyone who needs a specialized practice. My background is in working with special needs children of all ages. I am the parent of a special needs child, I was a special education teacher, and now a retired a director of special education in a large district in Independence, Missouri.
I am a 500 hour Registered yoga teacher enrolled in a yoga as therapy program in Missouri. What I am learning in my own yoga practice and teaching and now in my yoga therapy program, are how to use the tools of yoga to use with persons with disabilities and their caregivers.
My education degrees include a B.A. in Elementary Education, a M.A. in Special Education, and an Ed.S in Special Education Administration. The marriage of my special education background and my yoga certifications allow me to have a thorough picture of the children and young adults i serve. There are ways to keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy and flexable which can be customized for individual needs.

An hour session is $55.00 while i am a practicing intern, price goes to $75 per hour once I am C-IAYT.
How did you get started teaching?
i had body issues of my own which brought me to yoga. Caring for my youngest son was a strain on my physical body and on my family’s financial and emotional well being. I needed a way to keep myself and my family healthy so we could provide the care my youngest son needed. Yoga was that for me.
