About

My story is unlike any yoga teacher I know. I attended a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Boulder, Colorado in July 2017 through a generous gift from my Dad, so I could study with my two sisters. I didn’t plan to become a teacher, and didn’t know if I even wanted to become one.

That training challenged my insecurities, gave me a support system to heal some deep pain, and confidence I had never experienced. After I completed my certification, I was given an opportunity to teach at the karate school I train at. That’s when I saw how much I loved to guide people through a yoga practice that is relaxing, and how much I love to hear people breathe deeply!

I specialize in calming, restorative, beginner, and healing yoga. As a survivor of trauma, and researcher, I am sensitive to the unique needs of those who experience symptoms of PTSD, and chronic stress and anxiety. My teaching style is trauma-sensitive and trauma-informed.

I became certified as a Y12SR Leader in January 2019.While I am not solely tied to the 12 Steps, I do see them as one path that can work for some. I am open to other programs and styles as well. I have experience with overcoming addiction, and being a family member of those struggling with substance abuse. I know first hand how depleting addiction is on the body, mind, and spirit.

My approach is gentle and guiding, and I see you as the ultimate teacher within your own body. I am passionate about helping those who do not feel comfortable going in to a studio or group setting for any reason. I can help build strength and calm, empowering you to live more confidently and peacefully. I facilitate a healing environment for families that have been impacted by addiction or trauma to help them reconnect with themselves and each other.

I love bringing calm to someone’s day. As someone that has experienced PTSD, panic attacks, anxiety, and heavy stress, I know how debilitating it can all be. As a family member of people who have struggled or are struggling with substance abuse, I know how exhausting and depleting it is.

I want to bring the freedom a peaceful state of mind can bring to others. I am by nature a comforter, listener, and healer. It brings me joy to know I can help others on their path to healing and calm from life’s difficulties.

Frequently asked questions

Step 1: Listen and Learn

I first start by listening to a client’s needs, hopes, and any concerns they may have. I ask questions to learn if we are a good fit, and how I can best help them if we are.

Step 2: Goal Setting and Accountability

When I know what a client is hoping to get out of their time, we can then work together to establish measurable goals. I create personal sequences for each individual, and modify as much as needed to make sure they are moving toward their goal at a comfortable pace. I offer written out sequences they can follow on their own in between sessions, and can check - in throughout the week if they desire more accountability.

Step 3: Measuring Progress and Maintaining Agility

I am consistently measuring the progress toward the goal(s) to keep us on track. When a client feels their goal is met, we can decide where to go from there. I maintain agility by always being willing to change coarse as needed, slowing down, speeding up, or creating something entirely new and different to meet the needs of the client that day.

I am a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. I studied at Earth Yoga studio in Boulder, Colorado under Shannon Paige who toured for several years with Shiva Rea.

I am a Y12SR ( Yoga for 12 Step Recovery) Leader. I can facilitate yoga classes aimed at the recovery community and learned trauma informed practices that I incorporate into my classes as needed.

I have taught Kids Yoga at a Homeschool Cooperative to children ages 4-8 and also at a kids karate camp to children 5-12.

At this time I do not have a standard pricing. I negotiate the price based on the client’s needs - the length of class they want, their distance to me, and how many people are involved.

My first teaching job was at my karate school where I still teach today. I was offered the job right after becoming certified, and am still grateful for the opportunity to give back to my karate teachers through teaching them yoga.

I have worked with both children and adults from ages 4-51. I teach to karate students and teachers, people who have a good amount of body awareness, and injuries from overuse and surgeries. I have worked with people with social anxieties, and those who have never done yoga that do not feel comfortable walking into a yoga studio.

In June 2019 my husband and I chose to become Baptized. I was raised Catholic, so I had been Baptized as an infant, but I hadn’t followed the faith throughout my adult life. I was initially nervous to make such a public statement, but it was a moment that brought such peace and joy to my life. I partially attribute my yoga training to building my confidence to take that step.

I advise a student to chose a teacher they feel comfortable with, that listens to their needs, and is willing to be flexible in their approach. Everyone is unique, and each person deserves to be treated with respect and kindness. A good teacher will be more concerned with hearing their student, then with being “right”.

What do you want to accomplish?

If you aren’t sure what your goals are, it’s hard for the teacher to know if they are meeting your needs. You don’t need to have your goals completely figured out, because your teacher can help with that, but a picture of what your hoping to achieve will be helpful.

Are you open to trying something new?

Even if you have done yoga before, every teacher will have their own approach. Consider if you are open to new experiences, and to what degree. You may find you need a teacher with specific training to fit your needs.

How motivated are you?

It’s helpful to know how much time and effort you are realistically willing to put in to the practice. This also helps the teacher know how to track your progress and how much to expect. It can help you know if you need more or less help with accountability, and to be realistic (and therefore more kind) to yourself about how fast and how much progress you will make.
