The Cruz Fitness Systems Muscle Building and Fat Burning program entails a 60 minute high intensity, motivational and educational training session that will help you turn your body into a muscle building/fat burning machine, boost your metabolism and keep you burning fat even after your workout for faster results. Then I can also include a no-nonsense hybrid reality based self defense training system, which incllude: Filipino Martial Arts, Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, Thai Boxing, Boxing, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, into your program that will not only get you into shape, but will also train you to have a warriors mentality. Which is crucial if you truly intend to overcome and take out an attacker or assailant who’s only motive is to hurt and take you out!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

As a fitness professional, my mission is to keep my clients accountable, committed and motivated to obtain their individual goals and to design training programs that will enhance their individual performances. I teach them to keep their focus and patience, pushing them to their limits and getting results. I inspire my clients and motivate them to train hard. I encourage them to strive towards being fit and living a healthy lifestyle, while creating a fun and positive environment. I educate my clients on how their bodies move and work. I am a mentor and teacher, demonstrating what a fitness lifestyle is all about, always realizing that I am the example. I support my clients to help them achieve their fitness goals. I challenge everyone to make fitness their lifestyle choice, hoping that they will continue to come back each week knowing that consistency is the key! I want to help my people create a routine, a lifestyle, and a way of life. I make a difference and I change lives, and that's what CFS is all about. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Vinny Cruz has studied the martial arts for over 30 years and he instructs in close quarters, reality-based self-defense, as well as mixed martial arts. In 1998, He developed Combat Kickboxing for Women for the NY Health and Racquet Club (which was featured on Univision's nationally known Spanish network show known as CONTROL)  He is the former Boxing/Kickboxing Coach to Thaddine Johnson -- Female Flyweight Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, PKF (Professional Kickboxing Federation) and IKF (International Kickboxing Federation) Champion. His martial arts and self defense training include: Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, Thai Boxing, Filipino and Indonesian Martial Arts, Boxing, Kickboxing, Ground and Grappling Arts. 

Vinny teaches unarmed and armed hand-to-hand combat, realistic self-defense, blunt weapon and sharp weapons and defense against a variety of weapons, gun defense, gun disarmament, knife defense, knife disarmament, stick defense, stick disarmament, defense against larger attackers, defense against multiple attackers, ground fighting, throws, take-downs, defense against take-downs, armlock escapes, fundamental striking techniques with open and closed hands, elbows, legs, and knees, submission fighting, joint locks, including arm locks and leg locks, chokes, escape from chokes and headlocks, self-defense for men, women, teens and children. 

How did you get started teaching?

My name is Vinny Cruz, I started Cruz Fitness Systems back in 1983 at the age of 16. My love for training, guiding and motivating others to reach their fitness goals became my lifelong career, and I look forward to doing the same for you.
