Joyce H. says, "I’m so thrilled to have found Jamie! I started 1-1 classes on zoom with Jamie since January. I was totally a beginner to yoga and Jamie made me fall in love with it. She’s always patient and professional. I experienced a lot of stiffness after WFH, Jamie’s classes have helped me a lot. My energy level and body stiffness have been improved a lot. Jamie also modified the workouts every time according to my needs and my energy level. I always feel very grateful and relaxed after practicing yoga with her. ☺️" Read more

Andrea H. says, "Casey is the best yoga teacher I’ve ever had! She eases you into poses and makes sure your thinking about your tiny inner movements to keep you in alignment and safe from injury. All that wonderful guidance and knowledge is presented in humor and I have found myself giggling throughout every class. My mother and I are very different fitness levels and we equally enjoy her classes. She is such a warm, bubbly person I can’t recommend her classes enough!" Read more

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

I have been to a few yoga classes with Namrata. I love the way Namrata teaches in these classes. She is such a positive, happy, and energetic instructor. Her instructions are clear and easy to follow. She has a very calming and soothing voice during meditation time that makes me very relaxed. I will surely recommend her to everyone!

Jaime is an amazing yoga instructor! If you're looking for someone to help start your yoga practice or really expand and build upon your yoga foundation, Jamie is the teacher you've been looking for! She will push you when you are ready and she will help you rest when you need it. She knows all the tricks to help describe how your body should be feeling in a certain pose. Her yoga style is typically flow/vinyasa based, but she also leads great restorative classes. She is flexible, easy to communicate with, and a genuinely friendly person. During the pandemic she started teaching a 45 min restorative class that helps you center/ground and start off the week right. I highly recommend this class- especially if you are feeling stressed and tense. It always helps loosen the tension I carry in my neck and shoulders. She always answers questions and if something does feel right will change the direction of a yoga session to accommodate. I'm an intermediate yogi and I've done one on one and group classes with Jaime for over a year.

Casey is my favorite yoga teacher I’ve ever had. She was my teacher when I initially started practicing yoga. I’ve had teachers that have made me feel like I should be able to do something that my body was not yet capable of, but Casey always made every pose so accessible. She gives you options for how to modify the pose, while also coming around to physically help you into the correct position, without it being too much too fast. She has such a cheerful, friendly, and open personality and is wonderful at making everyone feel welcome. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Casey as a yoga instructor.
