About

Karina Alvarez is a certified holistic nutritionist, born in Querétaro, Mexico. She started practicing yoga from a very early age. She was educated under the influence of yoga philosophy. Both parents have been Hatha yoga instructors for many years. She has been a vegetarian all her life and currently mostly vegan. She teaches vegetarian, vegan and nutrition cooking classes in La Mesa, Ca. She has deepened her yoga studies with her teacher Stéphane Chollet, who has guided her through meditation and spiritual form in the different yoga retreats and 350 hours teacher with Surya World in India.

She likes to help people get started in the practice of Suryashtanga Yoga, which is rooted in the deepest Hindu tradition and corresponds to the original Ashtanga yoga of Patanjali, which means that it is essentially a method of meditation.

Regular practice allows the student to work on the physical, energetic, emotional and mental aspects of their being and favors the internal position on the physical. Karina loves to deliver her passion of yoga and nutrition to each of her students with a lot of love and with the firm promise of achieving a state of well-being in all aspects of being.

In each practice we focus our attention on several important aspects to achieve total awareness in the here and now. Practicing yoga with attention in the breath, in each of our senses, and focusing on the alignments, will allow us to activate the energetic body, quiet the mental and dominate the emotional. The yoga practice gives us a state of peace in body and spirit, seeking to vibrate in sincere love towards oneself, the Creator, the service to others and the entire Universe. Yoga is union and love!
