As a creative, positive, and reflective child development professional, I invite children to dive deeply into their play, empowering them to reach their potentials. It has been my pleasure to serve hundreds of families in the course of my work so far. I build lasting connections with families because of my sunny, patient, and inquisitive demeanor-free of judgement. I consistently endeavor to provide quality, relationship oriented care. I design playful and open environments for learning, and capitalize on teaching opportunities spontaneously as they occur. Ashley H. says, "I am seriously so grateful for the privilege of working with Yoga with Bonnie Rhea. She has been consistently giving in a most experienced and talented manner. I have been in her classes every week for 3-1/2 years now. I keep thinking during class just how amazing it is to be the recipient of Bonnie Rhea's knowledge of the body and her experience integrating yoga with that knowledge. Each class is different and she ties it all together in a real and present way. I have been in hundreds of her classes and I can say every one of them has been a "safe place." Her love, concern for her students and her kindness comes through. Her voice is also so soothing. My dog passes out during every one of her classes the moment she starts speaking- just from listening to her voice. Her introducing me to Yoga Nidra has added a huge tool for my recovery from severe trauma and is benefitting me greatly. I can't say enough and I truly mean every word and feel inadequate to fully express my gratitude for Bonnie Rhea and all she has given." Read more

We have an extraordinary teacher of meditation and yoga (yoga is by recorded CD) who has taught for over 45 years in San Diego and in India. When one is with Dr. Erhard Vogel -- or even experiencing his writings -- one recognizes that he is a real teacher of universal truth who has all his life lived what he teaches with integrity [since age 5 1/2 when he had his first enlightenment experience during World War II]. He knows that real knowledge comes only from experience, and he has a gifted talent to lead people to have their own experiences of themselves -- their true Self -- not some dogma or other people's ideas. He is rare indeed. We ...

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

Bonnie Rhea is one of the best yoga teachers I've had since arriving in San Diego. She is a true professional, especially kind and patient! What I love the most is her sensitivity to one's limitations. When needed, she will offer different ways of executing a particular pose so as not to cause harm. This is always appreciated. Her expertise in Yoga Nidra was new to me, but my mind and body quickly adapted. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in developing and sustaining a well rounded yoga practice to enroll in her Signature Class, followed by her Mindful Yoga and Yoga Nidra Class. You will learn from the best.
