How did you get started teaching?
I retired in 2016. Thru life's ups and downs, the one thing that was consistent in my life was my yoga practice.
When I retired, I looked around online for a gentle yoga training program, and i found an amazing place in La mesa, CA. I later became a Yoga Nidra Guide (discreet sleep with trace awareness) and offer meditation classes on a weekly basis. I continued with my yoga training @ SOUL OF YOGA INSTITUTE. I am now a E-RYT 500. I teach group classes at several locations.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages of students. I teach all levels, from general restorative to more active Hatha. Also, meditation.
Many of my clients have physical limitations, I have clients with anxiety concerns as well. I also have taught chair yoga to clients in retirement communities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had an amazing camping trip in the mountains. Practicing yoga where you can feel Mother Earth beneath your feet, feel the energy rising from the ground, thru the soles of your feet...all the way to the crown of your head is really incredible.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Take your time, talk to them, see if you get a good feeling about the person you're hiring. Take a session or two, before you commit to more. Ask them if package deals are available if you decide to purchase multiple classes or visits. Ask them about the cancelation policy in effect.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1.What time in my schedule can I commit to on a regular basis?
2.Can I find a schedule that won't find me sitting in traffic either way?
3. What are my expectations? Are they long term or short term?
4. What can I afford? How important is this part of my life to my overall journey?
