What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As a beginner or experienced student, its important to understand what clients looking to achieve in the Martial Arts. We will establish obtainable goals to create a structure for the training. Once the goals are established, we begin with strenghting the student physically and mentally with the basics at a pace thats suitable for the clients needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a Martial Artist from 1980's, I became a 5th Degree Master in Taekwondo. Acheiving over 500 students in the knowledge of also Krav Maga and Kickboxing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Theres is a starting rate of $85/hr
How did you get started teaching?
Moved to Miami from the mid west in 1980's. Miami at that time was dealing with rioting and very high crime rate. Starting Martial Arts saved from dangerous situastions and kept me out of trouble.
What types of students have you worked with?
My first school was located in Miami Beach in 1999 and the second location was in North Miami in 2015 post COVID. I have taught close to 3000 clients over the years and was also labeled as the celebrity instructor.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Having the pleasure of achieving two proclamation from the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Dade School Board for the continued support to the communities and schools of my company, Darren Buckner's Martial Arts.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Their are many instructors we call "Curriculum Instructor" that will educate clients they learn form a manual. True instructors with experience will understand that each client has different needs and goals. They will provide quality instructions that comes from understanding exactly the dangers in this world and will sturture your training accordingly.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Will they be able to defend themselves quickly and in a effective manner?
