Marnie is very sweet and kind hearted. I started practicing prenatal yoga with her earlier this year. I unfortunately ended up having a miscarriage and Marnie has continued to be there for me ever since. After the miscarriage, I decided to continue my practice with yoga and every once in a while Marnie and I will have a private yoga session. She is very great at helping me with my practice and I have learned a lot about yoga since I met Marnie. I expressed to her before that I wasnt too comfortable with doing the pose Downward Dog and she assisted me with the Downward Dog in one of our sessions to help me embrace it and become more comfortable. She is really focused on my needs and my goals in my practice.

Marnie is very knowledgeable not only in the Yoga Asanas , but also bio mechanics of human body. She spotted the minutest of error in how I moved or stood or in posture. She brought awareness to it and we corrected that. These little fixes drastically increased my stability during yoga and improved my general fitness which almost feels like a miracle. We are working on my post injury weak left leg and right shoulder which have already showed remarkable improvement in such little time that I am amazed and motivated put my life on hold making every effort to be at all her sessions.

Frequently asked questions

With new clients, I generally have clients fill out an initial consultation form prior to arrival. The form asks for information such as the following: * Do you have any prior experience with yoga? If new, what influenced your decision to try yoga? Please describe. * Do you have any injuries, aches or pains? Please describe them. * Are there any other health concerns? (ie: asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, medications) * In the past 12 months, or are you presently doing any other kinds of therapy? (ie: Physical Therapy, massage, chiropractic, acupuncture) * If yes, to PT, what type of exercises were assigned? Are you still practicing those exercises? * Are you or were you doing other kinds of sports, exercise programs, physical activity? Please describe. * What is your occupation? What does your typical day involve physically? (ie: sitting, computer, lifting, on your feet?) * What are your goals? What do you want most from this program? At the first session, we will review initial consultation form, and I will do a posture analysis of client and take them through range of motion tests to assess strengths, limitations and begin to formulate a program based on client needs and goals. Follow up sessions allow time to refine client program based on client progress, objectives and goals.

In my mid 20’s, I was encouraged by my mother to try yoga as means to deal with health issues, the stress I faced working in corporate sales and simply finding greater life fulfillment. A dancer in my youth and yearning for the joy that movement brought to my life, I found my first yoga class at a dance studio in Cambridge, MA. Not knowing what I was getting into, I expected to jump around, move and sweat….instead I found myself in a beginner Iyengar Yoga class that was slow, methodical movement that encouraged breath awareness and finding deep stillness from within. This was unlike anything I experienced before. I left class renewed, joyful and alive. I found my authentic Self again and was home to my True Nature. After practicing yoga for a few years I was interested in learning more about the healing and spiritual aspects of yoga and was encouraged by my yoga teacher to enroll in the yoga teacher training she was co-leading. Shortly after completing the 200 hour yoga training, I was offered a teaching position at Iron Crow Yoga in Hamilton, MA teaching children and beginners. Things have flourished ever since and I am ever grateful to meet, connect and guide so many amazing individuals through teaching. I simply love my job!

I work with a full spectrum of individuals with all ages and abilities - prenatal, postpartum mothers and babies, toddlers, children, teens, adults, seniors, sedentary beginners as well as active beginners (triatheletes, body builders) as well as experienced yoga practitioners.  In addition, I've worked with clients that have limitations and disabilities (MS, brain injuries). Yoga is universal. It speaks to all walks of life and I am happy to meet people where they are in this moment in time.

In addition to teaching yoga in group and private sessions throughout the community, I am also honored to be a part of a wonderful team of experienced yoga instructors at Johns Creek Yoga where I am assisting and mentoring aspiring yoga teachers in training for their 200 hour Certification.  This opportunity allows me to share my knowledge and experience and help shape the future of other yoga instructors.
