Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is to spend time with the client to figure out what we want to accomplish and then get right to work. If there is a parent involved, we tend to talk about lifestyle changes that could be made in the home to best assist their child to be successful. Then we build from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been Certified for NASM, ISSA and Precision certifications as well as CPR.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is based on a 2 or 3 visit per week schedule to best moderate progress and learn new stuff, but also to build consistency. Price is reflected by the frequency, though there is only a 60 difference between 2 and 3 times per week. Typically that is paid to my place of business or paid directly depending on the situations.
How did you get started teaching?
I got my start years ago in my backyard, but over time I studied different sports and martial arts, and then developed a love for anatomy and kinesiology. I became a professional personal trainer in 2008 working at Gold's Gym.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all populations from world champions to wheel chair bound warriors. Kids of most ages (typically over 6) and adults. I even have a host of senior citizens I've trained.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Training a good friend of mine who was able to lose 130 pounds over the course of 8 months.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Always make sure you can verify what they are teaching you, and when it comes to personal training and in person coaching, there usually is a feel for it, like any other relationship!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is the best way to know that I am going in the right direction/ Is there a question I could be asking?
