Nick Semenykhin Guitar Lessons And More
About
I always try to teach lessons with music in mind. I do every exercise in a way, that it's still musical and interesting. I'm very passionate about what I do and I always do the best I can to help my students become their's best.
I love teaching music to people of all ages and see how they progress. I also love working with people and just being involved with music in any way.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For example, at the first lesson, I would ask a student to show me what he/she is capable of at the moment. That way I can evaluate the level of the student and then start working with him or her on whatever is the next step for them. For instance, if it is a beginner at guitar, I would start our lessons with working on the knowledge of the fretboard, developing right and left hands techniques and start introducing him/her to playing tunes/compositions. I always like to keep the studying process interesting, so it’s not just scales and exercises; I’m always trying to put music in it, so that the student doesn’t lose interest and music and still is excited about playing it.
For more advanced students I work on their soloing and accompanying techniques, introduce them to the improvisation and the advanced components of music.
Even if we work in classical music genre I still would like my students to understand what is happening on the music level and practice certain elements of it isolated as oppose to just reading the music
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a current junior at the New School For Jazz/
I started to teach 5 years ago when I was still in Ukraine. I've been teaching guitar to both young students and experienced adults. Since I moved to New York I was still teaching lessons as well as working as a tutor at the New School. I'm tutoring a variety of disciplines, some of which include "Theory & Performance", "Theory", "Rhythm Analysis", "Ear Training", "Piano".
I mostly teach jazz but I had over 10 years of experience playing classical piano and classical guitar, so I am proficient at teaching classical music as well. Over the years, I also have been experimenting in such genres like Rock, Blues and Latin which I would be happy to share with you.
I like to encourage my students to reach their highest potentials, play recitals, participate in contests and get as much performing practice as they can!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
