About
I am firm believer in the transformative power of yoga. I'm the executive director of Lighthouse Yoga School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and have trained with my mentor, Jared McCann for over a decade. His teaching style blends elements of Ashtanga, Bikram, Forrest, Dharma and Iyengar. Breathwork, kriya meditation, and mantra practice are also used to strengthen the connection to oneself.
*JM Vinyasa combines the the attention to detail and precsion of Iyengar with the intensity of Ashtanga to compose a fun, challenging and comprehensive class. My students begin to understand the physical asana's but also have the opprotunity to hearn about all 8 limbs of the yoga system if they are open to it.

First, I want to know what has brought you to the mat and then, no matter what the reason is we begin with the basics - breathing - locks (bandhas) - and focus. How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching 7 years ago to deepen my personal practice. I loved teaching so much that I left my job in fashion to open a studio and teach full time. I couldn't be happier with that decision. It was scary to give up the security of my previous job but I followed my heart and more importatly my insticts. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be able to do what I love everyday.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with people that are very tight and that have never done yoga before to students that seem like they invented yoga. No matter your level there is always something to learn if you remian open and receptive.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at their training and their style. There are a lot of yoga teachers out there - it is important to be discerning. Choose carefully and wisely.
