Macenzie O. says, " I have been doing private virtual yoga sessions with Allie for a couple of months now. These sessions have become the highlight of my week! I am somewhat new to practicing yoga, and I could not imagine having a better teacher than Allie. She is always patient and encouraging while still challenging me so that I get the most out of each class. The private sessions allow her to cater to what I need/want to work on, and I have noticed so much improvement within the short time I have been working with her. I leave each session feeling better and more centered than I did before we started, and this even extends into my daily life. I truly cannot recommend Allie enough!" Read more

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

First of all, doing one on one yoga completely changes the experience, and on top of that when you have someone as great as Allie, then you're in for a real treat. Allie does a great job at creating a calm, personalized and patient atmosphere while still keeping you challenged and working hard. Let's just say I don't know if I can go back to a yoga studio after working with her!!

I had back, neck and shoulder injuries, so I was apprehensive about training in general. Kathy's methods and attention to detail have resulted in a significant improvement in my strength and mobility. After two years of weekly sessions, I have never left feeling injured--the result of Kathy's care and precision throughout each workout.

She was really considered with our low level of yoga. She adapted the class to our level so we could enjoy it! It was an amazing experience next to the sea. She explian us how to breath properly and the importance of that! We wish we could have another lesson with her. She is an amazing instructure who loves what she does.
Lana Yoga Classes
Brittany W.
Brionna has a great sense of who is in the room. As a dancer, I am used to fast paced movement, but her classes ground me and make me feel more stable in my movement. I like her flow, her music choice and the essential oils she uses to close out the practice.
