Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New Students are either looking for sport or health. The sport type are usually going to need the health based training either way. They are going to need to learn to breathe and obviously learn to manage their power as Traditional martial arts has discussed. Therefore a proper foundation in coordination/ mind/body interaction is absolutely necessary for even original Karate/Hard Form styles.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Traditional Martial Arts from various teachers. My goal throughout my training (Still today) was to see the various ways practitioners would move and help others achieve the same. In addition to this I am a graduate of Masters Oriental Medicine and have been able to apply these deeper teachings to my students growth.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I like to do a free first lesson to meet you and your family/friends. From there if things are aligned we can meet several times per week. I do ten lessons in advance at 35$/lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching for over 20 years. The most important part has been my exposure to various teachers, some with hidden agendas (corruption) and other's sincerely wanting to help someone achieve their goals.
What types of students have you worked with?
My best achievements were with helping people rehabilitate from injury. People of many weights, obese and very thin (who needed to build strength) hhave also benefited.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are they getting the best movements for their body condition? With the time they have are they interested in building more flexibility, strength, cooordination, control, balance? This is what will help them improve their lives.
