Witnessing the positive changes in students' physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Be a part of the students' transformation. Yoga has taught me how to go inward to uncover the voice of intuition and trust it, to have the courage to face my shadows, to have the strength to accept it and to understand that compassion for all and radical self love are also necessary. When I walk onto the mat, I feel like I have finally arrived home. I am whole. I am welcomed. I am seen. I am accepted. I am safe. I am loved. I am enough. And I want to offer students the same feelings when I teach. I teach what I practice, because I am so passi...

There is nothing easy about resin. To do what I have learned to do so far (and I freely admit that I'm still a baby at this) I have spent a full year learning about the chemistry of different pigments - mica, spray paint, acrylics, inks, pastes, enamel... the list goes on and on, and how they interact with resin - thickening, thinning, and plain just not getting along. Taking that a step further and learning the different techniques used to exploit those characteristics. Learning the feel of resin and how to use color and composition with an unpredictable and fluid medium. Nothing about it is easy but everything about it is mesmerizing and ad

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

Melissa
Casey is my favorite yoga teacher I’ve ever had. She was my teacher when I initially started practicing yoga. I’ve had teachers that have made me feel like I should be able to do something that my body was not yet capable of, but Casey always made every pose so accessible. She gives you options for how to modify the pose, while also coming around to physically help you into the correct position, without it being too much too fast. She has such a cheerful, friendly, and open personality and is wonderful at making everyone feel welcome. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Casey as a yoga instructor.

I really appreciated the way she set up safe spaces for artist to grow in their technique and not feel the pressure of judgement. I learned so much about how to learn and remix the lessons to fit my own message. She's a kind and honest teacher and I recommend her if you are looking for someone who is authentically interested in helping you be better where you are and all the while helping you to grow.
