The Sanskrit word Kosha means veils, and it relates to the five layers of our being, body, energy, mind & emotions, intuition, and bliss. At Kosha Yoga we teach classes that focus on bringing balance and peace to all the koshas. We keep the temperature at our studio at 72 degrees.
Carrie Searles Odom started yoga in high school and found it was an excellent way to relieve her restless leg syndrome and help her go to sleep at night. She found that yoga styles that were slower with longer holds in the yoga positions were most supportive for her. (As this calmed and balanced her pitta dosha.) In time she noticed that most yoga classes taught in the Denver area were intense vinyasa classes, often in a heated room. Carrie wanted to create a space that was devoted to yoga styles that had a slower pace in a room temperature environment. Surely there were other people like her that didn’t do as well with the heat and intensity! With this in mind, Kosha Yoga opened its doors in 2010.
