I enjoy giving back to a program that was there for me when J was a teenager.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will show you how to wrap your hands, take a proper stance, and begin to throw punches in the bags.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I open the gym 4 days a week in the AM from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. Our head coach has 39 years experience, two other coaches have 20 and 16 years respectively and I am on my 27th year and now vice president and current annual Golden Gloves TournamentA Director.

As aHolden Gloves supported gym our annual fees are only about $95 a YEAR!
How did you get started teaching?
I got started by first volunteering when U was a kid and then later became an official. As Vice President I help raise funds and now help get boxers in our gym that needs fighters.
What types of students have you worked with?
Our gym helps boxers of all ages beginning at 8 years old up to 100 years old. There is a Masters division for anyone over 40 years old so it’s never to late.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of our promotions we do every year above our gym is The Bernie Schmidt Memorial Boxing Show, we just finished our 18th year in a row and the boxers love to earn an award there.
