We are not a McDojo. No contracts, reasonable rates. We teach Martial Arts, not focused on tournaments or MMA. Traditional Tang Soo Do. No students under 7 years old.
Since this is not not my full time job, we have the freedom to have an impact on the lives of our students through honest training, feedback and reasonable but high expectations of their efforts. We do not have to lower our standards or promote students prematurely to keep our doors open.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students are included in regular classes. All we ask is a honest effort. They are usually paired with a Black Belt for the first few classes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 8th degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do with a back ground in the US military, law enforcement and Business degrees. We raised 5 sons, one in is one of our instructor instructor as a 5th degree Black belt. I started training in martial arts in 1963 in Japan with Judo.

How did you get started teaching?
I have been in martial arts since 1964, it was a natural progression.

All ranks, all ages.

Seeing my students grow as Christians and Martial artists.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Watch classes, if you are not comfortable with the result of the higher ranks, walk away. If they pressure you to sign a contract, walk away. Check credentials, if they don't check out, walk away.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? For working with us, if the goal is recreation or exercise only, we are the wrong school.
