Katie Cavanagh has been a very considerate and instructive yoga guide and Guru. She has listened to my requests, needs and protests. Guided me thru them with grace and encouragement. Ive been gently challenged and encouraged to go beyond my perceptions. Shes given me poses with expansions I can choose to achieve on my own or with guidance.
Her individual classes have been a blessing. Shes guided me with focus and rhythm to achieve a satisfying and boosting restorative balance. Strengthening my being thru her yoga and friendship. I have greatly benefited from the peace and strength she has helped me access.

• Have I offered any options, modifications or proppage that gave you more access to your practice, or to a particular area of the body?
🧘🏻‍♀️I appreciate your sensitivity to my bodys needs - I feel honored and respected in my practice to really have it be my practice and to modify as often as I choose. You bring a lot of humor to being on the mat which helps me not take myself too seriously and not feel frustrated when a pose does not come easily. Your spirit helps me enjoy the process and the path. Practicing yoga with you brings me to a child-like, peaceful place.
• Is there anything Ive taught that changed your perception of or feelings about a pose, like forearm stands or trikonasana or utkatasana? About a series, like forward folds or hip flexor stretches?
🧘🏻‍♀️Im grateful for your guidance around modifying poses when my head goes below my heart (in my case, triggering migraines). You have helped me to find ways to experience the benefits of forward folds without actually doing forward folds which I really appreciate!
• Have any particular words or physical guidance resonated? Sparked a new perspective on a movement or physical relationship?
🧘🏻‍♀️ You often offer the words How about...? before you suggest a modification, which I love. Its a gentle offer and it feels good to receive.
• Whats the vibe like in our class practice?
🧘🏻‍♀️Lighthearted, energized, serene. You help me grasp how serious it is to experience joy on the mat!
• What do I focus on during practice?
🧘🏻‍♀️Ease, acceptance, staying present, lightness.
• Do you feel well-cared-for during class? Do you feel like the space is held for you?
🧘🏻‍♀️I feel really safe practicing with you. You are highly attentive and in tune with your students and you respond to us with loving, warm energy.

Frequently asked questions

I like to talk with a new student, on the phone or (whenever possible) in person, about what they're looking for, where they are physically (and maybe emotionally), what they need and what they want, like and don't like. The conversation doesn't end there—it goes on throughout our work together—but it has to start with sharing.

Then, we'll schedule our first session. We may be ready to jump in to a very classroom-like experience, or we may want to spend time getting to know the scope of our practice together.

I began practicing yoga regularly in 2004 and began taking workshops at the Kripalu Center in western Massachusetts that year. I studied at Jaya Yoga Center, Brooklyn, and became a 200 hour RYT in 2016. Continuing education is vital, and I study every chance I get. Most recently I deepened my yin teaching and added to my training with a Yoga Alliance certified 50 hour yin yoga certification with Bernie Clark in Vancouver.

Individual sessions in your home or in my studio begin at $125; a two person semi-private class is $90/person; for three to five students, the rate drops to $200 for the group. Group classes at home require sufficient space for social distancing.

Online classes are available beginning at $20/half hour and $30/hour.

In special circumstances, sliding scale pricing is available.

After years of practice, and a 200 hour teacher training program, I began by helping my best friend recover after her son was born. She needed help getting both her physical and her emotional self back after the birth, but maybe more important, she needed something that was just for her, just about her.

Now I teach both private and group classes, in studios and homes. It's absolutely the best job in the world.
