Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we will have a introductory phone conversation where I can learn what your specific needs are and you can learn more about how private yoga works. From there, we can scehdule a complimentary introductory session to see if we are a good fit to work together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Yoga Alliance 200 hour certified teacher. I have completed additional training in Yin yoga with Corinna Benner and yoga for the back and spine with Bernie Clark.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing can vary depending on length of each session and distance traveled. Generally, private yoga fees are comparable to private psychotherapy or massage therapy.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching group classes shortly after graduating teacher training at Fuel the Soul in Merrick, NY where I took my training.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of students. However, I specialize in teaching students with chronic back pain, back health issues, injuries, and chronic stress.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important thing a student should look for in a yoga teacher is someone who they feel they can build an honest and open relationship with. The student/teacher relationship in yoga is a sacred relationship where knowledge is passed from teacher to student through a relationship of mutual respect and trust.
This relationship is especially important if you are suffering from pain or injuries. The yogic path to healing is paved jointly by teacher and student through open honest communication.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What specific results am I looking for from yoga?
