How did you get started teaching?
We have been involved in instruction since 1994. Our instructors have worked with police recruits, in-service personnel, security guards and civilians.
What types of students have you worked with?
Police recruits, in-service personnel, security guards and civilians.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We work very close with the Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester, NY and have been instrumental in helping these veterans get jobs in the security industry.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure their credentials are true. What experience does the trainer have and can they provide real life experiences. There are those that say they teach self defense or firearms but they are more of a liability than the student they are teaching.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your expectations?
How much time do you want to invest?
If its self defense it takes practice?
If it's with a firearm it takes dedication to understanding the rules and applying them every time.
If a person becomes complacent, remember Drivers Ed... 2 hands on the wheel while driving, same holds true with self defense and firearms training, a lapse in judgement can cost you your life or someone elses!
