What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We like to see where the experience level and couple that with the goals the student may have. Once we have assessed these, We will work with the student to build on past instruction and and work toward accomplishing their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been training Kung Fu and Wing Chun since 1998, earning my red belt (a black belt equivalent) in 2003. I have trained, studied and practice everything that is taught. Our Kung Fu School was founded in 2007 - since that time we have trained hundreds of students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have a standard pricing for our classes /lessons - we currently have 2 options for training - the classroom environment and private lessons. The standard rate for our class is $68 a month. For private lessons, the rate is dependent on the kind of instruction sought.
How did you get started teaching?
I began my teaching journey by helping my instructor teach youth and adult classes initially as an assistant and worked toward an instructor at the end of a 5 year period.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with an extremely diverse group of students - all different ages, races, cultures and nationalities. The only requirement is a student who wishes to learn.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love belt testing/ranking ceremonies. It’s an opportunity for the students to showcase what they have been working so hard on to their loved ones. It’s in these moments that all of the growth the student has done is seen,
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The biggest thing is:Know what you are looking for and the instructor has that information, make sure that the instructor that you hire has a personality that works with you.
