Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will first give each client a free consultation (goals, any physical challenges, session rate, number of days wanting to train, nutrition) and workout so that both sides get to know each other and determine if it's a good fit. If the client would decides to utilize my services, we then set up a schedule for training, expectations of myself and the client, and an overview body parts that will be trained each session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified trainer. I also have a MBA in Business Administration and Project Management
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I price my sessions dependent on the number of days a potential client would like to train.
How did you get started teaching?
I've been strength training since 2002 and through trial and error with my own training as well as with the help of trainer buddies and others who are in the fitness industry, I wanted to help people that either have no knowledge, or are wanting to get back in shape. Plus I understand the struggle with fitness as I battled weight most of my life so I sympathize with any and everyone that has had enough with being in an unhealthy state.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with kids, clients with heart conditions, physical limitations, and elderly clients. Pretty much all walks of life.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent project would be my girlfriend and I having custom lighting made, with the design ideas we came up with and having them custom made from a builder in Florida. Just recently had them installed and they look great!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are looking for a personal trainer, you should decide more on what they can do for you than pricing. Not saying that pricing is not a factor, but you would want a personal trainer that knows what they are doing and can translate that to helping you. There are a lot of trainers that know how to train themselves, but cannot train people because they never take the time to asses the potential client. If I was searching for a personal trainer, I would rather have someone that is a really good trainer and pay what they deserve, than pay a trainer that can't get the results and they charge cheaper than most trainers in the industry. Free consultations and a workout will test drive a trainer and you can make your decision a lot better than someone talking and not showing anything.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before a client thinks about utilizing the services of a personal trainer, first ask yourself are you ready? Mentally and physically are you ready.. Then ask yourself will I dedicate myself and not waste my time or the trainers time.. Then ask yourself what number of days you want to start and what is my budget for training... Last ask yourself what value will you place or priority will you place on training from a perspective of importance. Do you want a better and healthier life, or are you satisfied with where you are. Especially if you have kids, you have to ask yourself do you want to be there for your kids later in life, and also do you want to feel good about yourself if you feel you need to get in shape.
