About
I use proven, research based methods to design my yoga classes specialized for people experiencing back and shoulder pain.
I overcame chronic pain of my own through yoga and it has been a game changer. I love seeing that same transformation in others - the journey from suffering to strength. I love seeing people enjoy life and exceed their expectations they had.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I am flexible. Students often text/call/email me to describe what goals, if any, they have for their yoga practice and I will describe what I think would help them achieve their goals, including recommending classes.
After class, I will ask how you feel and will ask how you feel the next time you come into class so that I can give you options to adapt yoga to how your body feels on a given day.
Over time, you will achieve most of your goals and probably develop new ones and I will continue to support you in every way I can.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Teacher Training at 532Yoga
Prenatal/Postnatal Teacher Training through Prenatal Yoga Center
Anatomy I and II at NOVA
A variety of workshops about: Ashtanga Yoga, Yoga for Hips, Meditation, and more

How did you get started teaching?
When I was in the Navy, a number of people complained of back pain, which brought me to yoga in the first place, so I started offering yoga classes for them.
Over time, the population of people who came to see me grew and I expanded my offering to include Prenatal Yoga and Yoga for shoulder pain.
What types of students have you worked with?
-Beginners of all ages
-People living with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, back pain, and shoulder pain
-Intermediate students looking to advance their practice (learn shoulderstand, headstand, etc)
-People looking to get stronger and improve their range of motion
-Children ages 18 months - 10 years
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a 60 year old woman come in to class complaining of back pain and difficulty doing "normal" yoga classes that she had done for the past 15 years due to knee replacement surgery.
We worked together to modify stretches and strengthening exercises designed to help align the muscles that support our spine.
She called me to describe how she was able to take care of her garden without pain and that she felt happier.
She has been coming back ever since and continues to feel better and gain range of motion in her back.
