I have studied and practiced martial arts for over 35 years. They are a part of my daily life and the values instilled into me as a young student have driven me to succeed in all aspects of my life. I bring this enthusiasm and dedication to each of my students to ensure they meet their personal goals and exceed their own expectations.

I love heaalping people meet their personal goals whether they be improved fitness, learning to protect themselves and their loved ones or just trying out something new. The looks of accomplishment and self confidence exhibited after achieving a new goal are worth all the effort.

I have known and trained with Doug for a number of years. Take the opportunity to engage with this man. He is a truly unique mix of background, skills and interests. As far as martial arts goes you get a wonderful blend of Systema, Tai Chi, Grappling, Traditional Asian striking arts, and Modern Combatives. Im sure Im missing something but you get the idea.

Add to that the insight from his experience as a Police Officer, working with SWAT, and his Personal Protection training brings realism and context to whatever he is teaching. So often, especially in self defence classes and combatives there seems to be no realization or examination of the consequences legal and otherwise, of a use of force encounter. He brings that insight to the table.

Couple all that with an ever inquisitive mind, and a very wide ranging corpus of interests and life experience and you have an entirely unique learning experience.

Long time student with Doug in Santa Fe and can tell you he took my formal karate training and made it quicker , more fluid , and punching power more devastating. His classes had no hidden “secrets” like in formal dojo’s only attained when reaching certain belt levels, but every class focused on technique, application and slow sparring in real everyday scenario. That said , you can come away with the ability to defend yourself after one or two classes, because as students in the martial arts we cannot wait forever to apply our skills. I miss the Santa Fe group,and this kind of setting creates lasting friendships, let Doug take you on a journey.

I like to meet with new clients, discuss goals, make sure we are a good fit and if we are devise to plan to meet those goals.

I have studied martial arts and combatives for 35 years. I have taught and operated schools for 30 years.

Ensure they are a true subject matter expert and have the background and experience you need to meet your personal goals.

What do I want to learn? How much time am I willing to spend? How much can I spend? How long can I commit to practice every week? What are my personal goals for 6 months and 1 year from now in learning these new skills?
