What is your typical process for working with a new student?
On the first few workouts, I do basic workouts, light running, some cardio just to see where the person is at. I also ask the individual what it is they would like to achieve and go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I did track and field in high school and college. I was a sprinter for the 100m, 200m and the 400m. My speciality was the 400m and treated the race competively. I did well in it and was team captain in both HS and college. I am a USATF Level 1 Coach. I plan on furthering my education in USATF and plan to run Masters.

Motivation through a friend who wanted me to start coaching their kids

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you are comfortable with them. They encourage you to be better. They give constructive feedback. They care about your well being.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask what experiences they have in the particular area of interest that you are looking for. So if you just want to stay fit, ask them what experiences they've had toward staying fit.
