Your instructor I am 2nd Dan Black Belt in BAMA karate and also have Black Belt in Japanese Sword (Ken Kay Ryu). I have been practicing martial arts nearly all my life, starting with Judo when I was 7 years old, then Tae Kwondo followed by kick boxing and then finally finding Karate. I am 36 years old and have been teaching martial arts professionally for over ten years. Your lessons Martial arts is a system of training to prepare you physically and mentally for combat. The goal is self-defence against real and imagined threats from external and internal sources.
The challenges posed through training are there to reveal and remove the limiting beliefs that you hold about yourself. What you can learn Martial Arts Incorporating punches, blocks, kicks and strikes, as well as holds and take-downs, whilst developing skill, strength, power and speed in a fun, dynamic and advanced form of martial art. Self-defence Teaching practical, effective and realistic self-defence concepts, strategies and techniques that will allow you increased confidence and personal security. Self-discipline The ability to motivate yourself when in a negative emotional state is vital. It doesn't matter how strong your muscles are if you lack the will to move them: self-discipline is that will. Fitness Martial arts is a physical endeavor. You don't need to be fit to start, but if you start you will get fitter. The traditional weapons of self defense (Nunchaku, Bo, Jo, Baton, Tonfa) are studied as a part of the “combat art” disciplines. Japanese Sword The merged arts of unsheathing and employing the wondrous Japanese sword, not for the purpose of self defense or combat, but in pursuit of self growth and spiritual harmony. Health & Fitness Train the body, lose weight, tone up, improve your strength, endurance, coordination, balance, flexibility and fitness. Self-defence Teaching practical, effective and realistic self-defence concepts, including knife defense, exploring the thinking and techniques that will allow you increased confidence and personal security. Philosophy Training the mind is a fundamental part of any martial arts training, so whichever physical path the student chooses, your training will be enhanced through the use of developing the mind as well as the body. Lesson location Lessons take place at Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios down at Pico boulevard.
