WE ARE OPEN and operating at full capacity!
Colorado Budokan is now open and operating at full capacity and you no longer need to reserve a spot to attend.
However, some COVID safety precautions remain in place. A face covering is strongly recommended for unvaccinated individuals. Hand sanitizer use on hands and feet is required as are temperature checks. We will continue sanitizing the school in between classes and at the end of day.
We are also continuing to conduct our regular virtual classes via ZOOM (and other platforms) as well as the virtual private classes still being offered.
The Tsutsuis are exceptional practitioners and teachers of Shotokan Karate, and they are so wonderful with kids. My life and the lives of my 8-yr-old son and 12-yr-old daughter will be forever richer thanks to the training and guidance we've received at this dojo. The positive impact goes beyond martial arts--this is overall life-changing stuff.
I have been training with the Tsutsui family for 23 years and and have loved everything about their dojo!!! The people are awesome and are so kind. I have yet to meet anyone who has the same technical knowledge, dedication, passion and joy of teaching his craft to others!!!
Our 4 yr old daughter has been attending for 6 months now and loves it! She has become stronger, a better listener and more confident leader. I really like how the classes keep the kids disciplined, focused, and well mannered. This was the traditional karate we were looking for.
The Tsutsuis are fantastic people, and they attract fantastic people to them. Colorado Budokan has been fundamental in my journey out of passivity and into confidence. For the first several months in Sensei Gary's classes, I couldn't kiai. I was too uncomfortable making my own voice so loud. Now I can make my voice boom across a busy emergency room. For the first year, I couldn't spar with men. I would find myself crying and overwhelmed with terrible memories. With the Sensei's gentle consideration for my boundaries, I gained confidence and now I can (playfully) engage anyone, man or woman in the ring if they dare, and take a few knocks myself. For the first year and a half, I didn't compete. I was too afraid. Now I love competing and would continue to do it if I never won another medal. After two years when an old back injury took me off the mats for weeks, the Senseis took my limits into consideration and never push me to the point of injury. The Tsutsuis have an incredible ability to perceive what each student needs, what each student is capable of, and present opportunities for that student to assert themselves and accomplish it. I am extremely grateful for the hand Colorado Budokan has played in my own trauma recovery and discovery of my own power. I would, and do, recommend the dojo to everyone.
