Classical Judo Institute, based in Stamford, Connecticut and its surroundings, has been preparing athletes in judo for recreation, competition, self-defense, jiujitsu (jujutsu), and MMA purposes since 1969. Established by K. Shiina, a renowned judo expert from Tokyo, the institute has produced many champions. Even though Shiina Sensei retired in 1999, his legacy continues under the guidance of Chris Angle, a former student and experienced judo competitor.
