I think of my Yoga class as a graceful, yet challenging form of yoga appropriate for students of all levels, meeting each student where they are and according to their condition. As students move through a series of positions (asanas), focused on their breath and alignment, there is a concentration on the seven main energy centers (chakras) of the body. Students are encouraged to experience the practice as a meditation.
I enjoy the potential of everyone to connect to their inner self to heal, stretch and strengthen, for clarity and health.
She's kind, gentle, knowledgable and real. She knew how to relax me as well as strengthen me. A really refreshing class.
I meet a student where they are. I assess their level and start from the beginning if necessary, bringing us to notice our breath and introduce basic techniques that can be used through out the lesson.
My BA is in Dance Performance and Choreography form Bennington College. I started as a dancer, studying from a very young age. I started practicing Yoga as a warm up when dancing professionally in a very athletic and acrobactic dance company called STREB. I am certified by Sri Dharma Mittra who has a studio in NYC.
I taught Yoga first for professional dancers before moving into a gymnastics class. I also taught children and students when touring with the dance company. I started teaching adults in Stony Point, NY and continued to teach adults in Chestertown Maryland, before moving to Washington, DC.
