Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Simply asking what theyre hoping to achieve, whats that picture in there minds look like? Do they picture themselves being able and condifent enough to defend themselves and others around them? Are they a fanatic of combat sports like Boxing, MMA, and competition jiujitsu and want to learn more about martial arts in general by practicing and perfecting techniques, as well as studying the greats and what makes them so successful? Do they simply wish to train like martial artist to get in shape and reap all those benefits of martial art training without any of the narrative or mind science? and finally are they an existing fighter or practioner wishing to improve on specific parts of theyre game or to learn new stand up and or grappling teqniques hands on?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Training martial arts and yoga for 11 years, started off with my yoga teaching certification in 2013 learning to teach hatha yoga and vinyasa flow with Jennifer Yarro. I then began training with budokon mixed martial arts acadamy in Miami Florida studying MMA, Yoga for martial arts, and mixed movement arts with Cameron Shayne & Gui Arashiro. Overall I have had countless learning experiences over the years training and learning from talented teachers & tecnitions all over the country. In recent years I've been training Brazillian Jiu jitsu at Uflacker BJJ Acadamy in the southside of chicago and have been learning from multi time world champion Christian Uflacker for about 4 years, I have been a blue belt for two years. I currently perform my own kickboxing/boxing/muaythai practice based on my past experiences training MMA. as I mentioned I am also a certified yoga teacher under Frog Lotus Yoga. I like to teach martial arts and yoga together as a movement practice, my martial artists practice yoga and my yogis train movements that amount to martial art teqniques and positioning
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 an hour. I bring first aid, water, and sport equipment (certian personal equipment items will be reccomended to be purchased before hand)
How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching myself how to perform right handed teqniques on my left side which we all know trying to do something on your less dominant side is tricky and feels like a stranger. Teaching myself how to bat or throw a ball lefty, how to throw a punch lefty, throw a kick lefty was my first teaching experience essentially. After studying my right side techniques so closely in order to translate every last technical detail into my left side, I eventually came up with the cues to teach the techniques to anybody who wanted to learn these techniques. Even if they have NEVER perfromed these movements before
