About
I love teaching yoga. I have been a yoga student since 2005 and have been teaching since 2016. While I have the traditional 200 hour certification, I also have studied Trauma-Informed Yoga (TIY), therapeutic yoga, as well as restorative practices.
My focus is on connecting breath, mind, and body. I prefer moving slowly and conciously while maintaining proper alignment of the body in an effort to avoid injury. I will take you to your edge, carefully.

I have a passion for yoga and I love teaching so what better combination than teaching yoga. I really enjoy seeing people reap the benefits of yoga. I work with many different groups of people. I work with inmates in the criminal justice system; for them it is trying to find some peace in a situation that affords little happiness or fulfillment. I also teach chair yoga to seniors and students who are recovering from injury. With the seniors, it is great to hear how they feel renewed, breath better, and feel less pain in their bodies; whereas those recovering from injuries are glad to be able to continue their yoga practice.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For private lessons, I will work with the student to understand their current experience with yoga and what are their goals. I will customize a yoga sequence that works best for the student. If requested, I can also record our practice so that the student can use it repeatedly.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I did my 200 hour certification through Bloom Yoga Studio in Chicago. I also spent several months as an apprentice learning how to teach yoga as physical therapy. I have also been certified in Trauma Informed Yoga.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is flexible.
How did you get started teaching?
I took my first yoga class in 2004 and immediately realized that this is something I should be doing for the rest of my life.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide spectrum of people. I've worked one-on-one with people with injuries, I've taught chair yoga to seniors for over two years. I've worked with with individuals missing limbs. I've even taught a class for a special olympics team in Minneapolis.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I really enjoy teaching chair yoga classes at a senior living facility. The students are very appreciative and the results are almost immediately noticeable. Chair yoga makes yoga accessible for individuals who have difficulty getting to the floor and back up.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Understand the different styles of yoga as well the teacher's experience and training. There are many different styles of yoga. Fortunately, in the yoga community, if a teacher cannot accomodate what you are looking for, they will most like tell you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Obviously you want to understand the pricing model that teacher uses. You should also have an idea of the duration of class you are looking for as well as the frequency. Ask the teacher about their teacher training. Are they Yoga Alliance certified? Do they have insurance? You can also ask them their process. Will they create a sequence that is customized to your needs.
