New England Martial Arts
About
Very beginner - friendly. Low-key atmosphere. Good place for people who want to train in MMA for fitness & self-defense.
To me it was always about the most effective fighting method. My personal background includes Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, plus over twenty years of teaching / practicing martial arts full time. What I have personally realized with every style I trained in is that at a certain point it becomes sport-specific, meaning You learn techniques designed to defeat somebody within the same style ( Boxer vs Boxer, Jiu Jitsu vs Jiu Jitsu, ..etc). The beauty of mixed martial arts is that it forces You to do the opposite: You have to strip away the things that would not work in full-range combat, or modify them so they still do, then combine them in a way that suits Your personal needs. The end result is not a style or system, but a constantly evolving and changing fighting method. If You choose to Join our school, I will not claim to be Your Boxing or Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai or Wrestling Coach: I will teach You Mixed Martial Arts.
