Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introduce the beginner to the other students. Remind him/her to take it slowly at first.
Teach the student basics at a comfortable pace for them.
Team up with an experienced student to get acclimated to this new experience.
Always be safe, ask questions, and have fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a student of the Martial Arts for 42 years.
I still have a teacher with whom I train with on a regular basis.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The group lessons are $104.00/month for all age groups. There is a 25% discount for the second family member, and a 50% discount for the third family member.
Private lessons are $20.00 for 30 minutes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I teach students ages 3 to adult, from beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
Some have ADHD and other similar diagnosis. Training in the Martial Arts will help the student to focus on one thing at a time.
Coordination, timing and balance will improve. Students get a sense of where their bodies are in time and space.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You should always be able to try a few lessons for free. There should be a spot for parents to watch their child's lessons while in progress.
Be sure that lessons are age appropriate. My age grouping is: Ages 3 - 6, Ages 7 - 9, Ages 10 - 13, Ages 14 - 18, Adults Age 18 & up
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What do I hope to gain from the training?
2. How many times per week can I Realistically train?
3. Can I watch and or participate in at least two group lessons before I enroll myself or my child.
