We teach quality Japanese Shotokan Karate. I am a Senior Instructor certified by the International Shotokan Karate Federation (65,000 worldwide members). I have been teaching in Great Neck and Port Washington since 1992. See my website at www.pwshotokan.com for full credentials and pictures. This is not a sport fighting or mixed martial arts club. You learn real traditional karate and self defense.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All new students are individually taught my me until they are proficient enough to join the regular class.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
55 years of Karate experience, certified by ISKF as a Senior Instructor, Examiner and Tournament Judge. MBA from Adelphi University. See website for more information.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Class lessons are $20 each or $120 per month. Classes meet Tuesday at 6:15pm and Friday at 6:30pm for one hour.
How did you get started teaching?
In our organization, senior students always help teach the junior students.
What types of students have you worked with?
Male and Female students from age 6 to senior citizens.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
3 students just competed in our Regional Karate Tournament in Brooklyn. All had fun and gained great experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
We are a friendly environment where everyones goal is to learn karate. We have respect for one another and I personally supervise all sparring to ensure the safety of all students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do they want to learn and how much effort are they willing to expend. I am a very patient and well trained Instuctor. Lazy students should not apply.
