She is very knowledgeable and aware that everyBODY is different. She works with individuals tuning in to their specific needs. Outside of her sessions she also walks the walk. I am so inspired by her lifestyle choices, from her biking all over town, composting waste, to the way she washes dishes while doing a hip stretch at the same time. I've also been truly amazed watching her in her yoga work with children & elders. When I've sought out her guidance, her approach has been gentle, effective, and inspiring. She continuously reminds me, and keeps me in check, about balancing gentleness with progressing towards the next level. I highly recommend Lea to anyone! - Fayzah, Professional Dancer/Choreographer/Wellness & Life Enhancement Guide" Read more

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

• Have I offered any options, modifications or proppage that gave you more access to your practice, or to a particular area of the body? 🧘🏻‍♀️I appreciate your sensitivity to my body's needs - I feel honored and respected in my practice to really have it be my practice and to modify as often as I choose. You bring a lot of humor to being on the mat which helps me not take myself too seriously and not feel frustrated when a pose does not come easily. Your spirit helps me enjoy the process and the path. Practicing yoga with you brings me to a child-like, peaceful place. • Is there anything I've taught that changed your perception of or feelings about a pose, like forearm stands or trikonasana or utkatasana? About a series, like forward folds or hip flexor stretches? 🧘🏻‍♀️I'm grateful for your guidance around modifying poses when my head goes below my heart (in my case, triggering migraines). You have helped me to find ways to experience the benefits of forward folds without actually doing forward folds which I really appreciate! • Have any particular words or physical guidance resonated? Sparked a new perspective on a movement or physical relationship? 🧘🏻‍♀️ You often offer the words "How about...?" before you suggest a modification, which I love. It's a gentle offer and it feels good to receive. • What's the vibe like in our class practice? 🧘🏻‍♀️Lighthearted, energized, serene. You help me grasp how serious it is to experience joy on the mat! • What do I focus on during practice? 🧘🏻‍♀️Ease, acceptance, staying present, lightness. • Do you feel well-cared-for during class? Do you feel like the space is held for you? 🧘🏻‍♀️I feel really safe practicing with you. You are highly attentive and in tune with your students and you respond to us with loving, warm energy.

I only know Aleksandra Pryymak from wonderful private classes she gave me in my home a few years back. She was helpful and encouraging through out our practice. She brought an open mind and understanding to my situation and a wealth of experience from other forms of fitness that I really appreciated. An excellent guide into better health.

In a very short period of time Lea was able to identify the root of what I thought was a chronic injury, and advise an easy to follow path towards healing and recovery. I have full mobility back and am able to physically work as well as I used to. All done with a caring and cheerful demeanor.

Ever since I began my Alexander training with Cate, I trust my body more and am overall more relaxed and more present. I feel like a new chapter is unfolding. I'm finally able to begin unravelling the tension in my body. I just love it and am so thankful I found her. I'm in such a good place now. Compared to when I first found Cate, I feel like a totally different person. And my shoulder is healed thanks to her.
