Everyone's Yoga

About

Susan is an RYT 500 based in NYC.

She is inspired to serve, to tell stories and to make the teaching of self-care and sustainable living available to everyone. Susan created #everyonesyoga as a platform to share yoga with anyone, regardless of age, shape, gender, nationality, social status, or any other label that society puts on us.

Susan has collaborated with organizations including Animal Connection, Earth Matter NY, Community Yoga (Shanghai), In Defense of Animals, Compassion Arts, among others to make the teaching of yoga accessible. She has also demoed yoga at the United Nations in celebration of the International Day of Yoga.

Susan’s teaching style is very nourishing, grounding and uplifting with a focus on breathing and the relationship with Self. She offers different styles of yoga classes both one on one and in group settings, including Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative and Yoga Nidra. Susan also offers Ayurveda self-care treatment and consultation.

Born and raised in Shanghai, Susan is a gypsy at heart and has always been searching for the deeper meaning and purpose of life beyond the body and the mind. Having danced ballet from the age of four, modeled since age 12, she loves to express her emotions through the movement of the physical body. At age 20, she won the title of Miss Shanghai and worked in the public spotlight for two years. After obtaining two master's degrees in Media and Journalism and working in marketing/communications over seven years, she listened to her inner calling to share the teaching of yoga and became a full-time yoga teacher. Susan believes when you take the time to care for yourself with genuine self-love and live an aligned life, you have the power to heal yourself and the world around you.

My experience with Everyone’s Yoga is that I get to move actively during a session which is important to me because I’m a highly active athlete who enjoys running, swimming, and cycling. However, I also get the spiritual practice out of it as well! I have tried many various yoga studios and I can honestly say the many I have tried including Yoga to the People do not incorporate the spirituality or meditation aspect of Yoga. This is very important to me.
When I am in class I want to not only get a full body workout but I want to focus on my breathing which helps me in my meditation practice and believe it or not has helped me perform in triathlon races as well. The breathe work has helped me to slow down my active mind. That coupled with words of daily reflection and dialogue around all spiritual things it makes for a perfect class to feel mentally, physically, and emotionally satisfied!
I highly recommend this practice for anyone at any level! Beginners are encouraged, but not made to feel like they need to push anything, and more advanced folks can feel free to adjust poses to make it more active for them and both are fine.

    Susan is deeply knowledgable.
I have been taking her classes since over 2 years and she is an amazing and inspiring teacher. She has so much to offer, from classical, powerful vinyasa classes to yoga nidra, where she guides you into a deep state of rest. She is very supportive and picks you up where you are and on top of that she is a generous person with a great sense of humour.

Susan has a sweet, gentle approach that instantly relaxes me. I really appreciate working with Susan because shes encouraging regardless of how my body, mind or emotions are doing. Beyond the yoga practice, she also gives me really simple tips to align my yoga practice with the changing seasons. Thank you so much Susan!!!

I am very new to the practice of yoga and Susan made me feel so comfortable and at ease. I was quite nervous going into it but she walked me through everything, was patient and has truly made me fall in love with the practice. So grateful I found Susan!

Incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly someone who genuinely enjoys teaching yoga and holding space for her students. Loved the use of scented oil near the end of class -- so relaxing!!
    10/10 would recommend.

Susan’s cues and sequencing make each class a perfect flow for what feels right on the body. Her adjustments help you to get into the fullest expression of each pose while her verbal cues allow you to make self adjustments to deepen your practice. I always call her class a little slice of heaven.
