Tai Chi River is an established school of traditional Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. Founders, Peter Hodes and Rusty Rust, have been practicing and teaching Tai Chi for over 25 years together and began the Tai Chi River school in 2016 to help spread this simple and healthful exercise to our community.
Tai Chi River is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Before the coronavirus, we were facilitating an average of 10-15 Tai Chi classes and workshops per week. Due to the national health emergency, all our on-site classes have been temporarily cancelled. To respond to these new developments, and still be able to bring our healthful message to our community, we have pivoted to an online video-based format. Since March 2020, Tai Chi River has been conducting live classes daily using the Zoom application and also producing high-quality instructional videos for our YouTube channel.
Tai Chi is an easy-to-learn routine that improves health, balance, and relaxation. Tai Chi is low impact and can easily be done by everyone including seniors, people with illnesses and injuries, and even small children. In fact, it is a great exercise for these types of people due to the extraordinary health benefits that result from continued efforts. At the same time, advanced Tai Chi is a powerful martial art can easily challenge practitioners for decades as a working self-defense system.
Tai Chi River is a Nashville-based school of Tai Chi that has adopted an open approach to teaching Tai Chi. From the beginning, we have made a strong commitment to welcoming beginners to ALL classes anytime. Our primary slogan is “Beginners ALWAYS Welcome” and we have had over 500 beginners join our Tai Chi classes in the past three years.
