I love letting my son train with Derek. He’s passionate with what he does and it shows when he’s working with son. My son (james 9) and somewhat overweight. We started training in the fall of 2021 and ive seen alot of improvement with my sons speed, strength , but what i really loved was how he’s helped my son gain confidence.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start by having a conversation to understand the athlete’s current abilities and goals. Then, we conduct a thorough assessment of their athleticism and skills. Based on this, we create a personalized training plan to help them improve and reach their full potential.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from MTSU, 4 years of coaching experience at the middle school level, and have led over 100 training sessions.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, my sessions are 1 hour and 10 minutes long:
• $45 for 1 session
• $85 for 2 sessions
• $100 for 3 sessions
• $120 for 4 sessions
How did you get started teaching?
My journey into coaching began after multiple knee injuries sidelined me from competitive play, igniting my passion for teaching the game. During the pandemic, I found myself with ample time to study and practice, which deepened my understanding of football and enhanced my coaching skills. As I continued to grow, I realized how fulfilling it is to help others develop their skills. I am committed to sharing my knowledge and experience with young athletes, guiding them to reach their full potential on and off the field.
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve worked with athletes ranging from middle school to junior college levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Extra work with someone who's familiar with the game won't hurt and could potential be the help you've been needing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before talking to a coach or teacher, students should think about their specific goals, any health concerns or past injuries, and their current skill level. They should also consider their learning style and how much time and effort they can commit to training.
