After assessing students past experience and athletic background I always begin from the ground up and address stance, posture and balance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching classes and sharing my knowledge for nearly 12 years. In addition to that I have been training myself and being taught by some World class coaches and trainers throughout my professional career.

How did you get started teaching?
I actually began as a volunteer coach when I was 21 at my alma matter Carlsbad High School for the wrestling team. That was 18 years ago.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as 4 all the way to senior citizens. I also have experience with special needs students with conditions ranging from Autism to Down syndrome. And of course I have coached fighters ranging from beginners to professionals.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
First and foremost make sure you get along with the person as a person. Then you are more likely to listen and not get offended when the coach yells or speaks firmly.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Just have a basic idea of why they want to learn the new skill.
