About
My name is Emely Peguero. I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance.
What makes me the most excited in teaching Yoga is sharing the practice with students. Each session is individualized to suit their needs. It is such a pleasure for me to learn from each student as much as they learn from me. I think of it as a symbiotic connection built on mutualism, where one feeds from the other.
I love to teach Vinyasa, Restorative and Gentle flow. The synchronization of breathwork and movement combined with a dynamic approach to energy transformation is the sweet combination that keeps me going! These are some of the teachings I plan to bring to each session.
Throughout the years I have worked with individuals from all spheres. I began teaching yoga in public and privates schools (grades K-12) and later transitioned to teach adults, developing 1 on 1 workshops as well as group sessions.
Most of my students prefer private sessions, which allows for an individualized class structured to their specific needs and physical/ mental/ emotional goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new client, I ask the following questions:
1) Is this your first yoga class?
2) Do you have any injuries?
3) What would you like to work / improve on?
I always begin the class with setting an intention, this will be the focus point in your practice- think of it as what will drive you during the session, a thought you would like to refer back to when your mind wanders. An intention can be anything! ( for example: breathing, love, peace, clarity, being present).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have practiced Yoga since 2008 but it wasnt until recently that I became certified. Throughout the years I have held many jobs. During my time as a school teacher, I incorporated Yoga into my classes. Shortly thereafter, I began teaching 1 on 1 classes as well as group sessions and workshops for adults.
I specialize in Vinyasa, gentle flow, Yin and meditation.

How did you get started teaching?
My journey with yoga began in the Spring of 2008. In the quest for a holistic and wholesome approach to healthy living, I stumbled upon a yoga studio. After practicing yoga for some time, I discovered hot Vinyasa. These events changed my life forever!
Yoga to me represents the symbiosis of the mental, spiritual, and physical realms. I completely fell in love with the idea of moving with your breath and allowing it to serve you. This concept to me is a staple for yoga practice.
Throughout years of practice, a spark ignited within me and I desired to become a certified yoga instructor. It felt as if life was always in the way and I was never able to commit to a 200-hour teacher training. However, the idea was always in the back of my mind. With the responsibilities of working a semi-corporate job, teaching art as a supplemental job, and the ups and downs of living in NYC, I was never able to set time aside for myself. It was not until 2020 when I began working remotely, that the stars aligned for me and I found myself with more time on my hands. The choice was clear; it was now time to devote myself to yoga.
