About
I have over 700 hours of training and certifications. I am in a four year yoga therapy program. Therefore, I understand the needs of people with injuries, chronic pain, the older adult population, people with psychiatric conditions and other health concerns.
I enjoy working with beginners and like to help them develop their interests and capabilities in yoga and meditation. Every body is different and that is why I work with people in small groups or individually. I want to give everyone special attention.
I also offer my students time in a large Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna which helps with weight loss, detoxification, skin purification and increases the strenth of the immune system. You can get more information about it at: www.infraredsauna.com
I am featured as a business on www.alignable.com
I enjoy watching people develop their interests and capabilites in doing yoga and meditation. It gives me great joy to watch people getting healthier, happier and more relaxed to take on the challenges of life.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I do a brief intake of your interests and health related concerns. I treat every student as a unique and special being. I create specialized lesson plans tailored to what I think will be most beneficial to help you heal and feel better immediately after only one class with me.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have certifications in Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Restorative Yoga. I also have specialized certifications in teaching yoga to people with anxiety, depression, PTSD and Veterans.
I am currently in a four year program at East Coast Yoga Therapy School studying to become a yoga therapist and also studying advanced yoga practices at Yoga University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge only $45 for private sessions. I have reduced my prices to accommodate more students.
I can also accomodate up to six people in my studio anywhere from $10 to $30. Depending on how many people you are able to bring to class.
How did you get started teaching?
I began studying yoga and meditation over 25 years ago when I was in graduate school. I loved studying Eastern Philosophy. I became part of a yoga school and attended their trainings and retreats. Then, after a career teaching adults academic subjects and working as a Patients Rights Advocate in hospitals I felt that the best way I could help people would be in teaching them yoga and meditation.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students.
I am currently teaching yoga and meditation at a Family Medical Clinic at the University of North Carolina with the general adult population.
I am designing a yoga and meditation program for Veterans who are patients at the Durham V.A. Medical Center. I teach yoga in their rehabilitation center with Veterans who are in wheelchairs and have missing limbs.
I also teach in two different psychiatric hospitals with people of all ages and backgrounds.
I have several years experience working privately with the elderly and with teaching yoga and meditation to middle age youth in public schools.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was at the V.A. medical center sitting on the floor next to one of my Veteran yoga students who had a leg amputated at the knee. This was the first time he ever sat cross legged in what I called his "new body". He was in his early twenties and looked at me with big blue eyes and said, "I can still feel it. I can still feel my missing leg." It was a profound experience to sit with someone with such a serious injury and be part of his experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would suggest they find a teacher who is someone who has advanced training in different fields of yoga and meditation and practice teaching a large variety of students at different levels.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Make sure you tell the teacher if you have any specific health issues or injuries that might impact your ability to do yoga postures.
