The work I do is all about comfortability. How comfortable is the client? First with the idea of yoga and how it can be beneficial to everyday life. Then with me as their personal instructor. And finally after all the time and energy; how comfortable are then in their new body. It is a delicate dance between pushing the limits and keeping the mind, body, and spirit open to the amazing changes that take place when we breath and let go!

How did you get started teaching?
After dancing ballet most of my childhood, I took a yoga class in college and realized much of what I had learned in ballet translated into yoga. It helped me calm my mind and deal with everyday college stress. After college I continued to have my own practice and when I completed my doula certification, it seemed like a simpler way to attract like minded women and families interested in honing our own innate ability to heal and serve ourselves. I hope to share what I have learned with as many people as possible.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of bodies and ages. For the first year of my teaching practice I worked with the aging population 60-90 years old, working class professionals 30-50 years old, people with chronic back pain, immune disorders, children and pregnant women.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In May 2017, I along with my business partner hosted a wellness event at a local crossfit gym. We had an excellent turn out! There were vendors from all over NC; offering reiki healing, tarot, artisanal soap, natural hair care, jewelry, art, and media. It grew from an idea that came to me in a dream. "What if I could rally all my friends and help them build their business as well as promote my own..?" Thus RECONNECT: Spirit, Body, and Soul was born.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make your first yoga experience special and however you would imagine being relaxed and vulnerable; facilitate space, create room for playful transformation to occur!
Don't rush your body...as cool as crow and shoulderstand look; we must listen to our body rather than seek immediate satisfaction.
Ask all the question even the ones you think are silly... If we dont know, we will find resources to help you cultivate your own understanding.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Prior injuries to joints and skeleton are necessary to communicate with your instructor in order for us to be attentive to those areas. As much as we love to here about all the old injuries and what happened prior to stepping on the mat... I love to witness people where they are that day. Not where they were before the baby, or the new job. It is a constant journey that we learn to be open and receive whatever we have to share with others and especially ourselves. That is why we take time before class and personal settings to hold space for those who want to inform and keep everyone up to date on how you feel in your body TODAY!! no matter where you are... there is a yoga for you!!!
