The Phoenix And Dragon Martial Arts School
About
Watching young and older students alike, gain strength, flexibility and confidence, is my reward as they progress through commitment and hard work.
I have trained for 22 years and continue to learn a deeper knowledge in the Chinese Martial Arts.
I have competed in local and international tournaments, broadening my experience and friendships.
For the last several years, I have been giving back to the community by judging at these tournaments, having completed the national judging course. Instead of winning medals, I now have the honor to present medals to the future instructors if tomorrow.
I am a certified instructor in Tai Chi, Hsing I, Ba Gua, Kung Fu, having completing 10 years of study under Master Eric Sbarge.

We have a modified process in Covid times. Mew students can register for 2 classes a week.
there are opportunities for in person classes in a local park and also Zoom classes online. Special attention is given to new students to get them on a good start. We offer 2 additional time slots for a more individualized instruction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained for 10 years to have a certification to teach. My study and training has continued for another 12 years and do not expect to stop anytime.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Introductory program is monthly tuition of $129.00.
How did you get started teaching?
I started training along with my son, when he was 14 years old. He went off to college and I loved it so much, I continued on.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students base are of all ages from 7 years and up. Everyone starts with different altitudes and experience but with consistent work, all accomplish their goals. It isn't always the more "natural" student that succeeds or excels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy judging at the KUOSHU Kung Fu tournament in Baltimore Maryland, where for years I was a competitor.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meet the teacher and make sure there is a connection there and that he lives and is passionate about what he/she teaches.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should have some objectives in mind in their training, whether they are self defense, health benefits, weight loss, lower blood pressure, stronger etc.
What additional costs are there, I.e. belt promotions etc.
