Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask about his/her health condition, past injuries, and if they studied yoga in the past.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a certified Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher, having completed the teaching course, with six successful qualification assessments.
I continue my study by attending yoga workshops and intensives. I also practice on a daily basis, which is the most important of all.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
First class for free.
$120 for 5 classes, or $35 for a single drop in.
I encourage to come on a regular basis.
How did you get started teaching?
I was serious and devoted as a student. My yoga teacher, who noticed that, advised me to deepen my practice by attending the one year Pre-Teaching Training. Then she encouraged me to continue for two more years of Teaching Training, eventually I found myself in love with the subject:-)
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many different types of students. Some are interested to learn the yoga philosophy, while others want to move their body and lose weight. There are practitioners who seek to quieten fears and anxiety, and others who suffer from physical pain, and understood that Iyengar Yoga can assist them. My youngest student was fifteen, and the oldest was 82 years old. My classes address both men and women.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My gardener suffered from knee problems. He never practiced yoga but agreed to try a class. After few weeks the pain lessen. He not only continue, but started to come twice a week, and became a loyal student.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check that he/she are authorized to teach, because of that I strongly recommend to go only to certified Iyengar Yoga teachers (and because of so much more!)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Share and don't hide any problem you may have, because the teacher can help you! There are poses which are not allowed for pepole with high blood pressure, during the menstrual cycle and more. When this is the case, the student receives a modification.
Please, do not be embarrassed to ask questions when you do not understands.
