Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before working together I like to send over a questionnaire to better understand a student's abilities, injuries and past expereince with movement. This is a great way to fine tune an initial lesson together, as we work towards their goals the better I am able to assess how to move forward and work with them in a way that is beneficial to their specific needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
500 RYT
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I work on a sliding scale dependant on students needs and finiancial situations.
How did you get started teaching?
I personally began teaching yoga in 2014 after practicing for 4 years and wanting to deeper build my connection with what had become a staple in my everyday life. One certified to teach I felt drawn to sharing this knowledge with people beyond what some may call the typical yoga student, and first started working with the elder, overweight and the incredibly stiff (crossfitters).
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all body types and ages. I first began working with "older" clients in the 50+ age range, those considered clinically overweight as they were recommended to me by their weight loss mentors and also those who thought they could never be flexible, you the know type, the big broad weiht lifters of CrossFit.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When seeking a yoga teacher sometimes the years of experience is not always as telling of whether or not they are right for you, I would consider do they have experience with different bodies, beginners or older practioners.
