Started training karate back in 1968 with Mori sensei and shiroma sensei JKA, until 1996 actually Iam training with Masaya Kohama sensei from japan world instructor of I.S.S.K.A International Shotokan Shobukan Karate Association of which I have the rank of nanadan or 7th dan recognized by Japan, and I am the Vp and Panamerican director of Shobukan 

my dojo is located in Corona Queens since 1985 and I also have WKF licences in kata and kumite. Member of United States Of America National Karate Do Federation.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

All new stdents need to learn the basis  like tsuki,uke and geri wazas as a mean of introduction, then the tachi katas  and the moves like oi and gyako tsukis etc. All combined with the before said.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My education come from college, I  have a bachellor degree in Electrical-mechanical engeneering, but all my life I have been trainig karate Do (48  years) to be exact and been  teaching for 42, have my own dojo since 1985 in Corona Queens.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

That will depend in the lenght of time the prospect wants, ranges are from $85 per hour but this is negociable depending the frecuency of lessons.

How did you get started teaching?

Teaching has been always my passion since H.S.tru College, since AlgebraTo Calculus to finally karate

There are many like WKF world Championship to WKF Premier League to USA Open, to the most recent Adult Panamerican in Curacao, no to mention The US Nationals

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

First make sure that such a teacher is legit check his/her affiliation make sure the safeSport certification its up to date and the background check its also very important to verify.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

basically all they ask or think "How long do you think will take me to become a Black Belt?"

Do you think I can learn? Etc.
