About

I enjoy helping adults reap the benefits of martial arts, such as gaining discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills; and understand that this type of self-improvement can happen at any stage of life and is not limited to kids programs.

I enjoy helping people get in shape, relieve stress and do things they never thought they could do by unlocking their full potential.

Yes. We will review after the first free introductory class.
I started training martial arts in 2008 and did not have any intention of teaching, but as I progressed in the art, my teacher gradually increased my responsibilities and and I found that helping others get the benefits out of martial art training that I got is one of the most fulfilling endeavors that I have ever undertaken.
I have worked with students as young as 6 and and old as 86. I have worked with students that have clinical or morbid obesity, joint issues, asthma, type 1 diabetes, smokers, recovering drug addicts.
I just passed a new student on her white sash test (9/4/23). It was especially endearing because, I know I have not worked with her much directly, but she has sought out the skill from her class peers so that is a testament to her initiative, their leadership and an overall spirit of camaraderie.
Find someone who puts the student first. What will be good for the student, will be good for the teacher.
Ask the teacher why they teach. If it is all about their ego, run. Any valid program will have methods to improve physical fitness and mental /emotional health. There should be methods to teach body intelligence through forms and drills, and there should be a way for the student to test their skill in a live, competitive environment. If any of these things is missing, the program is incomplete.
